DEFINITION
Banshee is defined as a fairy which is an omen of death in Ireland mythology. In Ireland, many families have their own Banshees. A Banshee’s cry predicts the death of a family member.

THE ORIGIN OF BANHEES
Historians have followed the first stories of the Banshees that were based on a tradition which women sang a sorrowful song to lament someone’s death. These women were known as keeners. Since they accepted alcohol as payment, they were called sinners and punished by being doomed to become Banshee.
